MEET THE TEAM
Lumé Brits
Lumé is an ambitious, dynamic physiotherapist with a special interest in sport. She matriculated from Hoërskool Secunda in 2011 and graduated from the University of Pretoria with Bachelors in Physiotherapy in 2015. As a sports enthusiast herself, she has provincial colours in athletics, hockey and cricket and was part of the South African under 19 girls cricket team in 2009 at the age of 16.
Due to her interest in sport she also completed her SPT-1 (Sports Physiotherapy) certification in 2018. She started her Masters in Physiotherapy in 2022 at Wits University. Her goal is to bring the highest level of care and the newest knowledge and skills to Secunda.
Lumé still keeps active as a runner and cyclist. She is aiming to do the Comrades Ultramarathon in 2023.
Lumé also has the following qualifications:
- Dry Needling: Level 1 and Advanced Dry Needling
- Strapping involving Kinesio tape, Dynamic tape, Sports tape
- Tendon injuries
- Train Pain Module 1 and 2
- Running injuries and running gait analysis
- Mulligan Upper Quarter
- Concussion assessment and rehabilitation
- SASMA Accredited Physiotherapist
- BokSmart Rugby Safety Program
Zanri Joubert
In January 2022 Zanri Joubert joined our practice as the new permanent physiotherapist.
Zanri achieved her Bachelors of Physiotherapy degree from the university of Pretoria in 2018 and did her Community Service year at Rob Ferreira Hospital in Nelspruit where she gained a lot of experience.
She is energetic, caring and wants to do the best to get her patients back to their daily life. She has a big interest in sport injuries, orthopaedic conditions as well as chronic pain. As a woman of many talents, she also taught high school students in Piet Retief and have a love for children. Zanri stays active by cycling and running.
During 2022 she has grown incredibly as a person and a physiotherapist. She was the physiotherapist for the PUMA u/17 team at the Rhino rugby week.
She did the following courses and is excited to learn and do more in the coming years:
- Dry Needling Level 1
- BokSmart Rugby Safety Program
- Kinesiology taping course
- Neck and shoulder pain courses
- Pain management course
Nathan Taylor
Nathan started at Lumé Brits Physiotherapists Inc in January 2023. He graduated from the University of Free State in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science of Physiotherapy. He completed his Community Service year at Settlers Day Hospital in Grahamstown, where he had to start up the Physiotherapy department.
Nathan is ambitious and passionate young physiotherapist with a special interest in sports physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation. He played water polo and rugby.
He has done his Dry Needling courses and is looking forward to learning even more during the next chapter in his career.
Sarita Brits
The real “boss” of the practice. Lumé’s mother was and is always there to support her with her sport and academics when she was in school. Starting her own practice was no different. She started half day when the practice started in 2020. She is the full-time receptionist from 2021. Sarita is the practice administrator and friendly smile you will see when you walk in or phone in for an appointment.
She also attended the SASP coding course to ensure that your administration is handled properly and ethically. In 2022 she also started helping Secunda Rugby Club in an administrative role. She was chosen the most valuable Management member at Secunda Rugby Club.
