Do I need a referral?

No, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. We have first line practitioner status according to the HPCSA.

Your physiotherapist is also able to refer you on to other medical and allied health professionals where it is appropriate.

What is the difference between physiotherapy and biokinetics?

Physiotherapy:

  • Care and Rehabilitation of illness, injury and impairment/disability in the following stages:

a. Acute
b. Sub-acute
c. Chronic
d. Final

  • Restoration of functional ability
  • Health promotion and disease prevention through education

Biokinetics:

    • Rehabilitation and care

a. Rehabilitation and care in the final stage of chronic diseases of lifestyle and orthopaedics where conditions are well-controlled, the patient is stabilized and in the absence of:

i. Pain
ii. Swelling
iii. Inflammation
iv. Systemic Complications
v. Abnormal/Restricted range of motion
vi. Abnormal function

Do I need to bring anything or wear anything in particular?

Bring any available X-rays or scans that are relevant to your condition or injury, with you. Wear comfortable clothing if possible and relevant to your injury (eg. shorts for an injury of your lower limb).

How long does a treatment take?

A thorough assessment of your problem will be done on your first consult. It will normally take about 60 minutes. The time for the follow up treatment can be between 30 min to 60 min depending on how long the physiotherapist wants to spend with you, depending on your condition.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available at both practices.

Drive in at the gate of Hoërskool Secunda by the security in Coen Brits Street and they will point you in the right direction.

There are covered parking spots available at Grip and Rip CrossFit at 122 Danie Theron Street.

How does payment work at the practice?

All treatments are claimed through the medical aid. If you do not have available funds, it is your responsibility to discuss it with your physiotherapist. Private patients need to pay with card facilities, cash or EFT the outstanding amount as per invoice. Within 30 days of your consultation.

Do you do home visits?

No, unfortunately we do not do home visits.

How can I make an appointment?

Please phone or WhatsApp the practice on 082 320 2714 for an appointment during working hours 8:00-17:00. Please note no calls/WhatsApps will be answered after hours. If you have an emergency, please visit your closest emergency room.

How does the administration work at the practice?

Lumé Brits Physiotherapists Inc is a paperless practice thanks to HeroMed. When you are making an appointment, you will be sent a link to fill in your personal and medical details on your phone/tablet/PC. Fast and convenient and POPI compliant.
